Two people are playing Ping Pong. The ball careens across the table. Sometimes it travels with great speed. Sometimes it’s sliced. Sometimes it’s slammed hard to prevent the other player from being able to hit back. Once in awhile it is hit gently.
Life can be like that. One is living their life and POW out of the blue comes the ping pong ball. Wham, one comes across the table so fast that it can’t be returned. The one I was unable to return was Forrest leaving. I had been hit by other ping pong balls but that serve was unexpected. I threw down the racket vowing never to play ping pong again. I didn’t for a long time.
One day after taking a long journey which brought back light into my life, I decided to pick up the racket. I was surprised by my strength to even approach the table. I picked up the racket and hit it lightly. Hurrah! I was on my way. I was finally healed enough to reach this point.
I keep learning new strokes. If I’m slammed again, I have new tools to help me take a different approach on how to return it. I KNOW I can hit it every time it comes to me.
